If you run an 07 FFL / SOT shop making suppressors or firearms, you already have a bound book for the ATF side. What you usually don't have is one honest operational system for everything else: what stock is on the shelf, which heat lot a serialized part came from, and what a run actually cost you. That's the gap Serialworks fills.
Built for how a suppressor or firearms shop actually runs
Serial tracking through production
Assign and follow serial numbers as parts move from raw stock through machining, marking, and assembly — receivers, tubes, complete units. Operational tracking of your own numbers, not a substitute for your A&D record.
Heat-lot and mill-cert traceability
Tie every serialized part back to the material heat lot and mill cert it was cut from. If a heat is bad, scope the recall to exactly the units it touched — in one search, not a week of spreadsheets.
Real job costing
Material, machine, labor, tooling and overhead, per unit, for the run size you were asked to quote. A batch of end caps at 25 and at 250 are different numbers, because setup is charged once per run and cycle per unit. Then the period-end check: did your rates collect what you actually spent.
Shop-floor scanning that works offline
Put stock away, issue it, count a bin. On an Android handset with the camera, or by tapping and typing on anything else. When the shop Wi-Fi drops the scanner keeps recording and drains exactly once when it comes back. Marking a unit is the one thing it will not queue: whether a serial is already taken is a shop-wide fact a phone off the network cannot know, and a marking accepted on the phone and rejected an hour later arrives after the number is already cut into the part. So it refuses out loud instead.
The vocabulary is yours, not a generic ERP's
Most inventory tools were built for a warehouse and make you translate your work into "SKUs" and "assets." Serialworks was built for a precision shop: heat lots, mill certs, work in progress, kits and assemblies, roll marks and marking steps, receivers and finished serialized units. You configure it in your own terms, in an afternoon.
Plainly: Serialworks is an operational tool, not a compliance system. It is not a bound book, an A&D log, an eForm/Form 2 filer, or an ATF-compliance product, and nothing in it produces or substitutes for a regulatory record. Keep your bound book (FastBound, Orchid, Easy Bound Book, whatever you run); Serialworks handles the production and inventory side that those tools don't. See what we are and aren't.
Why shops switch to it
- Lightweight, and set up by us. Not a six-figure ERP with a nine-month implementation. One price, and a $2,500 deployment where we load your parts, slot your bins, print your labels and get your floor scanning inside a week. Costing takes longer, because somebody has to sit with you and answer "a baffle takes 11 minutes on the lathe, where does that go" for every part you want costed. We do that with you over the first two weeks rather than handing you an empty database.
- An append-only ledger. Nobody edits or quietly deletes history; corrections are new rows with a name on them. When a number is wrong, there's a record that shows how it got that way.
- Your data stays yours. Every screen exports to CSV, and a full database dump is yours on request — in plain formats, on any day, including your last one.
